During the negotiations at the expanded format, within the framework of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Republic of Tajikistan, views were exchanged on cultural and humanitarian cooperation. The developing dialogue between scientific, educational institutions, the mass media, creative and sports collectives, youth, women’s organizations, trade unions, and other civil society institutions of the two countries was noted.
The order of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on renaming the park “50th anniversary of youth” in Dushanbe into the park named after Nizomiddin Alisher Navoi became an important event in cultural life of people of the two countries.
In turn, installation in Samarkand of a monument to two outstanding representatives of Uzbek and Tajik literature, Alisher Navoi and Abdurakhman Jami, was received with great satisfaction. In addition, one of the stations under construction in Sergeli district of Tashkent Metro will bear the name of the outstanding Tajik poet, the Hero of Tajikistan Mirzo Tursunzade.
Presidents paid special attention to issues of improving the study and teaching of Uzbek and Tajik languages, exchange of educational and fiction literature, periodical and scientific publications, translation of works by classics and contemporary authors. The need for development of relations in education, science, including cooperation between universities and academies of sciences of the two countries was noted.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited “Dusti” square in Dushanbe. Here the President laid flowers to the monument of Ismail Samani, the founder of the Samanid state, which is a symbol of freedom of the nation and peaceful life. This monument, 13 meters high, erected in honor of the millennium of founding the Samanid state, is especially dear to the Tajik people.
