On seminar “Important issues of interaction of Ombudsman with state bodies and NGOs in the

sphere of observance and protection of human rights”

According to the working plan of Ombudsman of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Uzbekistan, two days seminar: “Important issues of interaction of Ombudsman with state bodies and NGOs in the sphere of observance and protection of human rights” was held on March 2007 in the city of Djizzak (region of Uzbekistan).

This event was organized by Ombudsman jointly with municipality of Djizzak region and law enforcement bodies, as well as civil society institutes.

Representatives of municipality of Djizzak region, Prosecution office, Ministry of Justice, National Centre on human rights, regional departments of internal affairs, health and justice, prosecution bodies and trade unions, regional representative of Ombudsman, as well as representative of Konrad Adenauer fund in Central Asia, Kazakhsatn and South Caucasus participated in the work of the seminar.

Such a wide range of participants demonstrated that during a decade period of its existence Ombudsman institute found its deserved place in the system of protection of citizen’s interests, established the forms of influence on officials, violating citizen’s human rights, with involvement to this process representatives of state and public organizations.

Seminar was the second in the series of such events on abovementioned theme. First seminar was held in the city of Gulistan on January 2007. Furthermore, seminars on this theme also planned in the cities of Termez, Andijan, Navoi, Ferghana and Tashkent during 2007.
