Lawmakers Address Implementation of Laws in Khorezm Province

The Committee of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis (parliament) of the Republic of Uzbekistan o­n science, education, culture and sports held its session, the local papers reported. The lawmakers addressed the course of implementation of the laws “On protection and use of the cultural heritage sites” and “On procedures of taking in and out the cultural values” in Khorezm Province.

The chairman of the committee Azamat Ziyo is reported to have presided over the session. Besides the Uzbek lawmakers, the session saw the participation of the heads of interested ministries, agencies, organizations, officials from Khorezm regional khokimiyat (the governor’s office) and other relevant territorial units, as well as the mass media.

Those who took floor at the session have said that at the moment the profound work has been under way in Khorezm Province to carefully preserve and restore the cultural heritage sites.

The broad commemoration of the 2500th anniversary of the city of Khiva, the 2700th anniversary of “Avesto”, the 800th anniversary of Jaloliddin Manguberdy, and the 1000th anniversary of Mamun Academy vividly testify to the aforesaid.

Also, the session participants have said that particular work has been under way along implementing the aforementioned laws. Up to date, 208 cultural heritage sites have been registered in the province.
