Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted an international conference on “Renewed Uzbekistan – a new generation of personnel”.
The conference, organized by El-Yurt Umidi Foundation under the Public Service Development Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, was attended by over 300 graduates of the Umid Foundation from 18 developed countries, such as the USA, UK, Germany, Canada, Japan, Australia, South Korea.
The goal of the conference is to analyze the results of large-scale reforms carried out by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to study the opinions of experts on the effective implementation of long-term plans, further democratization of society, modernization of public administration, and discussion of issues of supporting the reforms based on the principles of a market economy.
Advisors to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Kudbiyev and Abdujabbor Abduvokhidov addressed the opening ceremony of the event.
The conference is organized as a kind of platform for establishing relations between graduates of the Umid Foundation. During its preparation, over 600 people from various countries registered on the website http://conference.eyuf.uz, which confirmed the high interest in the conference.
The dialogue of this format is in tune with the goals of the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation, which will create opportunities for young people to get education abroad, to use knowledge and experience on the country’s development path.
The El-Yurt Umidi Foundation was established in 2018 on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. It was organized on the basis of the Umid Foundation, which in 1997-2003 funded 828 talented youth representatives in undergraduate and graduate studies abroad. From now on, the directions and goals of the scholarship programs of the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation have been significantly expanded. In 2018, 375 young boys and girls applied to foreign higher education institutions in four types of educational programs, in 2019 the number of students reached 605 people. In 2020, the Foundation is planning to cover 1000 students.
To date, 5 graduates of the Foundation hold ministerial positions in Uzbekistan. This indicates the potential of the Umid and El-Yurt Umidi Foundations, and the availability of huge untapped opportunities.
83 percent of the first Umid scholarship holders have specialties in the fields of economics, law and the social sphere. Today, such personnel are important in the context of reforms ongoing in all spheres of the state and public life of the country.
According to the conference program, the participants were presented the video “Renewed Uzbekistan – dreams, plans and future prospects”. Guests arriving from abroad were provided with information about ongoing deep and consistent changes in the country, existing opportunities, and the conditions created.
The plenary session of the conference was attended by graduates of the Umid Foundation with their reports.
The conference participants continued their work in breakout sessions. They spoke in detail about the democratic renewal and modernization of the country, the development of the education sector, the improvement of the investment environment, the country’s innovative development strategy and its advantages, the prospects for introducing advanced technologies in agriculture.
On the first day of the conference, opinions were expressed about foreign investment in various sectors of the economy, advanced innovative solutions and introduction of technologies.
