| August 25, 2008 |
The
International Finance Corporation (IFC) of World Bank Group offered loan
of US$ 3 mln to Uzbek Leasing International A.O. Today, it is the only
Uzbek leasing company to take out loans from international finance
organizations.
Currently, the Uzbek Leasing International is one of the most
promising and dynamically developing companies in the market of leasing
services. Since the company was launched, it has implemented more than
180 projects worth US$ 30 mln. The manufacture of industrial products
and consumer goods across the country in such basic industries for the
Uzbek economy as agriculture, mechanical engineering, transportation,
construction, printing, food, chemical, textile and pharmaceutical was
launched and new workplaces were created under the projects.
Since 2001, the company has introduced the process of using
international standards in operation activity, accounting and leasing
operations based on experience of Maybank (Malaysia) having no analogs
in Uzbekistan. As a result, the company has considerably expanded the
portfolio of leasing services offered to customers, making the quality
and efficiency of financial services meet the world standards. The main
challenge of JV Uzbek Leasing International is to involve high
technologies in the priority sectors of Uzbekistan’s economy within
financial leasing for the purpose of increasing the export potential and
developing import substituting production, expanding the range of
services on financial leasing to develop small business and private
enterprise and increase output of consumer goods and services in the
republic and carrying out mid and long-term finance for aquiring and
exploiting technical equipment. In the first half of 2008 the company
approved 34 projects worth 9 bln soums and it positively characterizes
the increasing role of Uzbek Leasing International in this segment of
the country’s market. Among the most promising projects implemented by
the company we can point out those ones on financing the purchase of
equipment for bottling ampoule medicine and manufacturing spray
medications in Tashkent worth 512 thousand euro and allocating 600 mln
soums for manufacture of carpets and carpet products in Bukhara region.
One of the main advantages of Uzbek Leasing International is the
opportunity of involving credit resources for financing the deliveries
of imported technological equipment to leading local and foreign finance
and credit institutions. Importantly, the work with customers is not
limited only within financing of equipment purchases but also includes a
complex of services of shipment and delivery for lessees. Furthermore,
specialists from Uzbekleasing constantly monitor projects already
implemented and search new promising niches in the market. The most
important segments in the company’s contemporary policy are to develop
network of its branches in regions and advance further the vehicle
leasing introduced successfully in 2007. The company has financed
purchase of 17 vehicles worth 462 mln soums.
Lars Thunell, IFC Executive Vice President, noted in singing of the
agreement that Uzbekleasing has all the necessary qualities for
developing the leasing in Uzbekistan and the granted loan will provide
small and private business with an opportunity to get long-term
financing on beneficial terms with complex of additional services of the

all the regions of the republic.
“Our children should be better, smarter, wiser and, of course,

This motto announced by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan
Islam Karimov is a bright example of truly paternal care for the youth
of the republic. The Palace of Creative Youth, erected on the initiative

It is a widely known fact that since the very first days of
independence Uzbekistan has been paying a special attention to
upbringing of the young generation, having created all the conditions,
in order to reveal and develop their creative skills. As it was noted at
the ceremony of opening of the Young Creative Palace, Uzbekistan was
holding a large-scale work on revival ofthe traditional arts and
development of modern ones in the country.
Nongovernmental organizations also give support in that activity. It
is especially worth to note the role of such organizations as Fund
“Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan”, YIC “Kelajak Ovozi”, which
have held such contest as “Kelajak Ovozi” and “Yangi Avlod” for the last
four years and implement other youth projects.
As young participants of the event mentioned, “Year of the Youth”

implemented very actively and today’s event was another one example of
it. Such a beautiful Palace is a really big gift for the youth. It is
another sign of attention of the government of the republic, which only
