Shavkat Mirziyoyev meets with Surkhandarya voters

Presidential candidate of the Republic of Uzbekistan from the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businesspeople – the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has met with Surkhandarya voters in Termez on October 8.

The event was opened by the authorized person of the candidate in Surkhandarya region A.Eshmuratov. The floor was given to Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

“Surkhan is the cradle of ancient civilizations, a land with a rich history and culture. Such states as Bactria, Tokharistan, Chaganian, great empires such as Kushan flourished in this region in the past”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

It was noted that today the region is consistently developing, cities, villages and mahallas are being improved, the standard of people’s living is increasing.

The candidate presented his pre-election program. It covers ten priority areas: economics, entrepreneurship, agriculture, education, healthcare, regional development, public administration, rule of law, foreign policy and culture.

Improving the living conditions of the population is identified as a priority task. It is planned to declare 2022-2026 in Surkhandarya as the fifth anniversary of providing clean drinking water and build 1.7 thousand kilometers of water supply networks. Part of this project will become a 361-kilometer-long main water supply network from Tupalang reservoir to Termez.

Measures were also announced for the construction of houses, roads and bridges, and the improvement of electricity supply.

Exports of fruits and vegetables from the region have doubled over the past three years, reaching $100 million. Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that if the entire potential of the region is used, this figure may amount to at least $500 million.

Another important area of the candidate’s program is the development of industry, increasing exports and investments. In particular, it is planned to implement 10 megaprojects that will give a powerful impetus to the development of the regional economy, to master investments worth $5.1 billion within these projects and create 22 thousand new jobs.

In general, over the next five years, more than 5,000 investment projects worth $6.6 billion are planned to be implemented in the industries.

Issues of development of the social sphere, strengthening the health of the population, and radically improving the quality of education were also touched upon. Plans have been announced to open new family medical centers and family polyclinics, repair medical facilities, increase the capacity of kindergartens and schools, and increase the coverage of higher education from 25 to 50 percent.

In the next five years, it is planned to allocate 50 trillion UZS to the economic and social development of Surkhandarya region and create 320 thousand new jobs.

“Over the next five years, we will put all the reforms in our country, including in Surkhandarya region, based on a completely new system of “person – society – state”. We will fully use all our capabilities so that the results of the reforms are felt first of all in the life of every person, every family and mahalla”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The sincere conversation took place with party members, voters, gathered in the district studios. They spoke about their vision of the future development of the region, put forward proposals to solve problems at places, expressed support for the candidacy of Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the upcoming presidential elections.
