In accordance with the Law on the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, one of the main tasks of the Central Bank is storage and management of the official gold and currency reserves of the republic.
The methodology for calculating gold and foreign exchange reserves is maintained in accordance with the standards of the International Monetary Fund. Gold and foreign exchange reserves consist of currency assets and monetary gold in bullion.
In order to effectively manage the Central Bank, separate gross and net gold reserves are recorded separately.
Net gold and foreign currency reserves do not take into account the currency funds of commercial banks and government bodies (except for the Ministry of Finance, the Fund for Reconstruction and Development) on accounts in the Central Bank, which are the obligations of the Central Bank to these organizations.
