Deputies hold meetings with voters

According to the Regulations of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis MPs of the Legislative Chamber are meetings with voters in their constituencies.

During the meetings, MPs inform voters with the process of reforms implemented in Uzbekistan, values and essence of the adopted laws, decrees and orders, the activities of Parliament, as well as learning the execution of existing laws at places.

On 22 March 2016, MPs held meetings with voters in Samarkand, Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya, Ferghana, Tashkent regions and Tashkent city. The meetings were attended by deputies of local councils, heads of self-government bodies, representatives of the financial sector, education, health, labor and social protection, farmers, entrepreneurs, students, NGO staff, as well as the representatives of the media.

At the meetings MPs paid special attention to explain the report of the President at the enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the socio-economic development in 2015 and the most important priorities of economic program for 2016 and the priorities tasks of the state program “Year of healthy mother and child”. An addition MPs acquainted the voters with their activities in the Parliament and reported of their work on the implementation the election programs.

Rasul Kusherbayev, member of UzLiDeP faction in the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan:

— Meeting with voters of Yangiyul district was held in the form discussion, in which voters were informed about the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Labor Protection” (new edition) and “On parliamentary control. Moreover, they were acquainted with the activities of MPs on the protection and support of small business and private entrepreneurship and eliminating factors hindering their activities.

Erkin Kholbutaev, member of UzLiDeP faction in the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan:

— During the meeting with the voters of Jizzakh region, we have provided them full information on the performance of the tasks specified in the election program of the party and plans for the future. In particular, UzLiDeP faction in the framework of the State program “Year of healthy mother and child” will pay close attention to the further improvement of legislation related to protection of the family, motherhood and childhood.

Above all, it concerns the draft law “On state youth policy” in the new edition, amendments to the Criminal Code to protect women who have children under three years, amendments to the Law “On quality and food safety” to restrict the importation and consumption of food products containing genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and prohibit of using GMOs in baby food. In the center of deputies’ attention will also make changes and additions to the Law «On guardianship and custody», aimed at ensuring children’s rights, health, housing and education in a healthy family.

Islomjon Zokirov, member of UzLiDeP faction in the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan:

— We are studying the problems of electorate and providing them practical assistance to solve them. During a meeting with voters of Fergana region which was held in an atmosphere of open dialogue, voters made proposals for the improvement of regulations to restrict the use of alcohol and tobacco products. These and other proposals will be considered by MPs and will be used in our further work. In addition, in the course of our work, we got acquainted with the work in the field of education and health.

Meetings with voters will serve to further improve the work of deputies in their legislative activity.
