Uzbek Labour Minister participates in intl conference in Geneva

Minister of Labour of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov is participating in the 105th International Labour Conference in Geneva.

During his speech at the conference, Aziz Abdukhakimov briefed the participants on work, conducted in Uzbekistan in line with the main principles of the ILO.

Uzbek minister said that in last ten years economy of Uzbekistan is growing at least at 7.5%. He noted that Uzbekistan created over 980,000 new jobs. About 480,000 of them were graduates of colleges, lyceums and universities. He said that Uzbekistan pays great attention to assisting youth to create their own businesses via providing micro and startup loans.

He also briefed the participants on special action programme for 2016-2018 on issues of improving labour conditions, employment and social protection of workers in agriculture sector. He said that the programme was development and approved by the Government in close cooperation with social partners and experts of ILO and World Bank.

The programme will improve national legislation in the sphere of labour norms and standards, set the best practices of hiring in agriculture sector, improve mechanism of feedbacks, etc.

He also presented work conducted on implementation of Country Programme of Decent Work, which was developed in cooperation with the ILO.
