Indian Embassy in Tashkent hosted a reception on the occasion of the Day of ITEC (Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation). It was attended by officials and representatives of the scientific community, the media, as well as alumni of the ITEC Uzbekistan.
Guests of the event were provided with detailed information about the program ITEC, which was developed by the Government of India in 1964 as a platform for bilateral cooperation and technical support to partner countries. As part of the ITEC representatives from 156 countries of the world are invited to attend training courses in various educational institutions in India.
As noted in an interview with IA “Jahon” Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India in Uzbekistan Vikram Doraisvami, higher education – it is the sector that provides opportunities for development and cooperation between our countries. According to the diplomat, ITEC program is aimed at further strengthening the ties of friendship, co-education in various fields and practical activities in research and science.
He also stressed that the interest of the citizens of Uzbekistan to the ITEC program has been growing from year to year. Since 1993, over 2,000 students have been trained at prestigious institutions in India in areas such as the “Information Technology”, “Management”, “Administration”, “Banking and Finance”, “Education and human resource development”, “English language”, “Journalism”, “Diplomacy”, “Business”, “Management of textile factories”, “Development of water resources”, “NGOs and civil society” and others.
During the reception it was held a concert program, which included Indian folk music and dance composition.
