President of Uzbekistan received the newly appointed UNESCO Director-General

On November 12, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the newly elected Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Khaled El-Enany.

Results of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference held in the city of Samarkand and prospects of further developing cooperation with this authoritative UN institute, have been reviewed.

In the beginning of the meeting, the Head of our state congratulated Khaled El-Enany with the appointment on such a high post, wishing him success in the further activities. 

In turn, the director-general conveyed special gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for the support and high-level organization of the main UNESCO event. 

The systemic and fruitful interaction between Uzbekistan and UNESCO covering a wide range of areas has been noted with satisfaction. Commitment of sides has been expressed to further intensifying cooperation, including expanding project activities of the Organization in our country.

The readiness of UNESCO has been underlined to jointly implement strategic initiatives put forward by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the opening ceremony of the General Conference.
