Uzbekistan’s grandmaster Javokhir Sindarov has climbed to fourth place in the June FIDE world rankings, moving up one position after finishing third at a tournament in Romania in May.
Uzbekistan’s grandmaster Javokhir Sindarov has climbed to fourth place in the June rankings of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), moving up one position from May. His preparation for international tournaments and training with coaches is supported by the National Bank of Uzbekistan.
Sindarov now has a rating of 2777, up from 2776 in the previous ranking, when he was fifth in the world.
The 20-year-old’s rise follows a strong performance at the Super Chess Classic Romania in Bucharest in May. He shared third place after scoring 5 points out of 9 and earned $63,300 in prize money.
Another Uzbekistan’s grandmaster, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, is ranked fifth with the same rating of 2777 points, giving Uzbekistan two players in the world’s top five.
The FIDE rankings are led by Magnus Carlsen with 2841 points. Fabiano Caruana and Hikaru Nakamura occupy second and third places with 2792 points each.
Three more players from Uzbekistan feature in the world’s top 100: Nodirbek Yakubboev is 40th with 2689 points, Rustam Kasimdzhanov is 50th with 2665 and Shamsiddin Vokhidov is 89th with 2637.
Sindarov is scheduled to compete next at the UzChess Cup in Tashkent, which will be held from 7 to 15 June.
