NEW AIR BRIDGE WITH INDIA: DIRECT FLIGHTS LAUNCHED BETWEEN TASHKENT AND HYDERABAD

Trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties between Uzbekistan and India are reaching a new stage of development.

Centrum Air has established the first direct air link between South India and Central Asia, launching twice-weekly regular flights between Hyderabad and Tashkent starting September 28. The flights are operated on modern and comfortable Airbus A320neo aircraft.

These direct flights represent a significant practical step toward bringing the two countries and regions closer together while boosting tourist flows.

To widely promote the opportunities offered by the new route, Centrum Air, in cooperation with the Embassy of Uzbekistan, hosted a presentation ceremony in Hyderabad. The event was attended by representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in India, Centrum Air, Hyderabad Airport management, as well as over 120 tour operators, travel companies specializing in MICE, family, and group tourism, and business leaders.

Speaking at the event, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to India Mr. Sardor Rustambaev highlighted the importance of rapidly developing political, economic, and humanitarian relations between the two countries. It was particularly emphasized that these flights open up brand-new opportunities to expand cooperation with the state of Telangana and the wider southern region of India in digital technology, pharmaceuticals, jewelry, and tourism.

During the presentation, a Centrum Air representative provided attendees with detailed information regarding the flight schedule and fleet.

Hyderabad has become Centrum Air’s second destination in India after Delhi. This route not only allows residents of South India to travel directly to Uzbekistan, but also offers convenient transit corridors through Tashkent Airport to Central Asia, the CIS, the Middle East, and European countries.

As part of the event, a dedicated presentation showcased Uzbekistan’s rich tourism potential, modern hotel networks, and resorts. It was noted that tourist arrivals from India to Uzbekistan have increased manifold over the past 5–6 years, highlighting the vast potential to raise these numbers to even higher levels through new air routes.

In this regard, Hyderabad presents an invaluable market for tourism, student exchanges, visiting friends and relatives (VFR), and international transit travel.

Representatives of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) stressed that this new route elevates interregional connectivity to a new level, significantly accelerating business, trade, and cultural exchanges.

The inaugural flight on September 28 was dispatched from Hyderabad Airport with a ceremonial send-off attended by senior officials from GHIAL, Centrum Air, and other key stakeholders.
