Uzbekistan Agency for Press and Information reports that by January 1, 2014, in the country registered 1372 mass media: 709 newspapers, 289 magazines, 95 television and radio channels, and 261 websites.
Development of civil society in the country, tendency for popularization of information technology and modern tempo of life of each person predetermines the intensity of significance of mass media. With this purpose, the country carries out the focused work on advancing the skills of journalists, qualitative upgrade of legislative and material-technical base of mass media. It should be noted that 78 percent of electronic media of the country are nongovernmental.
