The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Executive Committee, meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, approved the host countries for the AFC Asian Cup tournaments across various age categories for the 2027–2029 period.
Under the decision, Uzbekistan will host the AFC U-17 Asian Cup in 2027. The tournament is scheduled to take place from 12 to 29 May 2027.
According to the AFC, the hosting rights were awarded to the Uzbekistan Football Association as part of the Confederation’s review of its youth competition calendar and the redistribution of hosting responsibilities.
The AFC Executive Committee also confirmed Japan as the host of the AFC U-23 Asian Cup in 2028. The tournament will serve as Asia’s qualification competition for the 2028 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The 2029 AFC U-17 Asian Cup will be hosted by Saudi Arabia.
For reference, Uzbekistan’s U-17 national football team won the AFC U-17 Asian Cup in 2025, securing the continental title for the second time in the country’s history.
