Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea

On April 18, 2018, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Kang Kyung-wha.

The sides discussed the process of implementation of the agreements reached within the framework of the fruitful summit of the leaders of Uzbekistan and South Korea on November 22-25, 2017, in Seoul. As it was emphasized, the Joint Statement adopted by the heads of states on comprehensive deepening of the strategic partnership, a solid package of bilateral documents worth more than 10 billion US dollars, signed during the visit, brought the Uzbek-South Korean dialogue to a qualitatively new level.

The ministers reaffirmed their mutual interest in developing cooperation in political, trade, economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other fields and considered concrete steps in these areas. The sides also exchanged views on current issues of bilateral agenda, some international and regional problems.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea informed on her country’s efforts to resolve the situation on the Korean Peninsula. The Uzbek side, in turn, welcomed the holding of the inter-Korean summit in April this year and reaffirmed its continued support for the efforts of the Republic of Korea on establishment of peace, stability and security on the Korean Peninsula. Confidence was expressed that the positive results of the summit will create favorable conditions for further development and prosperity of the South and North of the Korean Peninsula and the entire region as a whole.
