Toshshahartranskhizmat and Uzmobile companies have launched a project on equipping metropolitan buses with free internet access through Wi-Fi connection.
Public transport passengers will be able to access and use free high-speed 4G internet during their trip in the metropolitan buses with a Wi-Fi BUS sign on the door.
“In the coming week, the Wi-Fi wireless transmission service will be available on six metropolitan bus routes: 10, 14, 24, 28, 51, and 95. Most fixed-run taxis will be equipped with free Wi-Fi by the end of the current year,” Toshshahartranskhizmat press service reported.
A passenger will need to make three steps to connect to the network. He should send an SMS to the number (+99895) 146-94-34, then find a network called UZMOBILE Wi-Fi, and enter a password on a special Captive portal, to where he will be automatically redirected after connection.
Today, the metropolitan fleet of 1,350 passenger vehicles consists mainly of 600 low-floor large buses Mercedes-Benz Conecto Low Floor, and 684 Isuzu buses of medium-capacity by Samarkand SamAuto plant.
