ARTISANS FESTIVAL

The festival, held at the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan “Uzbek cultural heritage through the eyes of the world community”, brought together craftsmen and artisans, art historians and folklore scholars.

Preservation of national traditions and values in its original form, informing the younger generation about their essence and significance is in the focus of constant attention.

In our country, many projects are being implemented on taking care of the intangible heritage, its broad propaganda. Books on history, stages of development of folklore, handicraft, spectacular art, national kurash are being published. Various exhibitions and festivals, creative competitions, concerts are recognized internationally.

A woodcarver Javokhir Rashidov graduated from the Republican Art College, successfully participated in various creative competitions. Hadicha Rakhimberdiyeva from Baysun district – a representative of the fifth generation of seamstresses. A performer of the puppet theater “Jaykhun” of Khankin district of Khorezm region Mansur Kuryozov took part in exhibitions, conferences and festivals held in France, Japan, the USA and other countries. The opportunities created in our country for creative people, artisans, contribute to their free activity, success.

At the scientific-practical conference held within the framework of the festival, reports were heard on such actual issues as the foundations of Navruz holiday, the artistic handicraft of Baysun, the role of Shashmakom in upbringing and spirituality of youth.

An exhibition of works by craftsmen and artisans was organized. A concert with participation of folklore ensembles of the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan, performers of bakhshi and lapars was presented.
