Uzbekistan hosted Asian Road Cycling Championships.
The championship, organized by the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan together with the National Olympic Committee, International Cycling Union (UCI), Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC) and Uzbekistan Cycling Federation, was attended by juniors, adults and paralympians.
More than 500 cyclists from almost 40 countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, India, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Mongolia, UAE, Jordan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Lebanon took part in the championships.
At this championship, held for the first time in Uzbekistan, members of our national team won 2 gold and 2 silver, 3 bronze medals.
Within the framework of the championship, the anti-doping workshop of the International Cycling Union was held on April 25 and the Congress of the Asian Cycling Confederation was held on April 26.
The events were attended by the President of the International Cycling Union David Lappartient and the President of Asian Cycling Confederation Sheikh Osama Ahmed Al Shafar, as well as members of a number of foreign delegations.
At the Congress, organized by the Asian Cycling Confederation, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the Women’s Committee, Chairman of the Cycling Federation of Uzbekistan T. Norbayeva was awarded by the International Cycling Union and the Asian Cycling Confederation with a special certificate, as well as a medal for the contribution to the promotion and agitation of cycling among women.
