Best athletes are awarded

The awarding ceremony of 64 athletes, who showed high results in 2017, took place in Jizzakh.

Last year, the athletes participated in 22 international and 55 national tournaments. 16 people fulfilled sports mastery standards, 154 – candidates for sports mastery, 198 – athletes of the first category. 58 athletes of the region are members of Uzbekistan national teams in Olympic sports.

Athletes of the region are achieving high results in such sports, like boxing, athletics, judo, Greco-Roman wrestling, turon wrestling, sambo and hand-to-hand combat. They won 18 gold, 12 silver and 24 bronze medals at the international tournaments in 2017, 122 gold, 126 silver and 230 bronze medals at the national tournaments.

Samandar Kholmurodov won gold medal at the Asian Boxing Championship, in Thailand. Guzal Ismatova, Ezoza Meliyeva, Maftuna Meliyeva and Aziza Yokubova became the winners in their weight categories at the international tournament in Bukhara. Bobousmon Botirov rose to the highest step of the podium at the Islamic Solidarity Games held in Baku, Azerbaijan. Shokhrukh Almatov won gold, Komron Rakhmatov bronze medal at the Asian Youth Boxing Championship held in Philippines.

At the event, trainers, specialists, sports veterans, sponsors and activists of public organizations were awarded diplomas and memorable gifts.

The event was attended by Jizzakh region’s acting Governor E.Soliyev.
