The World Crafts Council granted ancient Bukhara the status of a World Craft City, said Jamol Nasirov, Hokim of Bukhara city.
As previously reported, Bukhara hosts the first International Festival of Gold Embroidery and Jewelry. The event started with a festive procession of participants.
The festival, which will run until May 25, is attended by 288 artisans from all regions of the country. Among them are 110 jewelers, 37 masters of gold embroidery, 44 embroiderers, and 97 craftsmen in various areas of handicraft.
Participants from 58 countries arrived to attend the festival. During the festival, 112 foreign artisans will demonstrate their skills.
