In order to expand trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Switzerland, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan organized a visit of the delegation of business circles of the country to Switzerland led by the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan A.Ikramov, from May 28 to June 1, 2018.
On May 30, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with its representative office in Switzerland, the Swiss-Asian Chamber of Commerce, the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Frankfurt am Main organized Uzbekistan – Switzerland business forum and cooperation exchange, aimed at development of Uzbekistan – Switzerland trade and economic relations, in Zurich.
As reported by the Press Service of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the delegation was represented by manufacturers of textile industry, products of national art and ceramics, consulting and travel companies, banks and enterprises on project development.
Representatives of leading banks, insurance and investment companies, manufacturers of textile equipment, building materials, consulting and logistics companies took part in the event on the Swiss side.
At the business forum, prospective projects proposed for joint implementation in Uzbekistan in textile, chemical, agricultural and automotive sectors were presented.
Participants were acquainted with reforms carried out by the leadership of Uzbekistan on liberalizing the economy, improving business, trade, economic and investment climate in the country.
The President of the Swiss-Asian Chamber of Commerce Urs Lustenberger noted the high interest of Swiss companies in establishing cooperation with Uzbekistan’s entrepreneurs through creation of joint ventures.
It should be noted that in 2017 the trade turnover amounted to 154.5 million dollars. Currently, there are 84 enterprises with participation of Swiss capital in Uzbekistan, representative offices of 29 companies of Switzerland, engaged in pharmaceuticals, machine building, chemical and food industries, as well as tourism services, are accredited in the country.
During the cooperation exchange between the enterprises of the two countries, direct negotiations were held to establish business ties in the fields of textile, chemical, furniture, fruit and vegetable industries.
Representatives of Uzbek companies were given the opportunity to attract mini-technologies and foreign investments for expanding production activities, and improving the quality of products and creating new enterprises with foreign investment.
Following the bilateral negotiations, the Cooperation Agreement between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Swiss-Asian Chamber of Commerce was signed, which will undoubtedly give a new impetus to development and strengthening of trade and economic relations between the two countries.
The delegation of Uzbekistan also visited production facilities in Switzerland.
