Within the framework of the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Uzbekistan, the National Exhibition of Turkmenistan and a business forum with participation of business people of the two countries were held in Tashkent on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
At the event, which was attended by the heads of ministries and companies of the two countries conducting business in trade, industry, investment and other spheres, issues of further development of trade, economic and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan were discussed in detail.
Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan A.Ikromov, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan U.Gurbannazarov and others noted that in recent years, mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries is developing at a new level, important in this is the joint implementation of agreements reached during the meetings of the heads of the two states.
Cooperation in the trade, economic, cultural and educational spheres is of priority importance in bilateral relations of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. This is reflected in intergovernmental agreements.
The National Exhibition of Turkmenistan, as well as the business forum of business people of the two countries will help attract foreign investments for implementation of joint projects, establish and expand trade links, increase the number of new joint ventures and turnover of demanded products.
During the meetings of business people, issues of strengthening partnership between entrepreneurs of the two countries were discussed.
Business people of Turkmenistan got acquainted with activities carried out in the country on improving the business climate, supporting, legal protection of small business and private entrepreneurship, increasing investment attractiveness of the country’s economy, and conditions created for investors in free economic zones. High appreciation has been given to reforms implemented in the country for development of various sectors of the economy.
In 2017, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to 177.3 million US dollars. To date, Uzbekistan has 11 enterprises with participation of Turkmen businessmen, mainly in such spheres as trade and services, textile industry, furniture production.
During the National Exhibition of Turkmenistan and the business forum, promising agreements were reached on further expansion of cooperation in the oil and gas, transport-communication, agricultural, and tourism industries, agreements worth $250 million were signed in industrial production and textile industries. The sides agreed to hold such events on a regular basis.
