In accordance with the resolution of Uzbekistan’s President “On the Successive Draft of Citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Military Conscription and Discharge for the Reserve of the Armed Forces of Military Service People with Complete Service” signed 20 December 2013, official ceremonies of seeing off young men for the military service are underway also in Surkhandarya region.

Representatives of local authorities, government and social organizations, veterans and parents of conscripts attended the official ceremonies in progress at the Surkhandarya regional department of defense.

The acting head of the regional department of defense – lieutenant colonel Muhammadjan Inomov, the deputy hokim of Angor district – chairperson of the district women’s committee Shoira Rajabova and other speakers at the event noted that as a result of consistent reforms undertaken in the Armed Forces of our country under the leadership of President Islam Karimov, a professional national military has been formed to serve as an important factor in securing peace and prosperity of the nation as well as the inviolability of borders of our Motherland.

Aziz Abdullaev, drafted for conscription from the Poygaboshi mahalla of Baysun district, graduated from the Termez medical college last year with distinction. He has been regular in sports and been preparing ardently for military service. During the drafting season, Aziz earned a sufficient quantity of points at tests and inspection of physical training, thus he was entitled for conscription.

“I am proud to have been awarded an honor to serve in the national armed forces,” says Aziz. “My regular attendance of sports and good performance at school has helped me achieve this goal. After I return from draft service, I intend to study at a university.”
