The Ichan Qala historical complex in Khiva played host to “The Magic of Dance”, a three-day international festival.
The festivities kicked off with a procession, with participants dancing to the tunes of karnai and surnai national music instruments, clad in bright clothes and inviting onlookers to join them. The official opening ceremony took place at the Konya Ark ancient architectural complex. The stage presented dance teams from Karakalpakstan and Khorezm Region as well as award-winning performers such as Tolqin Jabborov, Aminzoda Jumaniyozova and others. The celebration featured not only artistic teams from Uzbek regions, but also guests from Azerbaijan, China, India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Tajikistan.
Organized by Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Culture and Sports, Uzbektoursim National Company and the Khorezm Region Mayor’s Office, the festival seeks to advocate national traditions and values of the Uzbek people while increasing the broader public’s awareness of unique cultural and historical landmarks, developing the art of dance, and boosting the country’s touristic lure.
