Delegation of the Russian Federation visits Uzbekistan

Members of the Russian delegation, led by Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation A.Juravlev held a meeting at the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the negotiation with Minister A.Khaitov it was noted that cooperation between the two countries in trade, economic, transport and logistics, tourism, scientific, educational, cultural and humanitarian spheres is actively developing. Agreements reached during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Russian Federation on 4- 5 April 2017, serve as an important factor in this area.

Within the framework of the visit, an intergovernmental agreement on the organized recruitment and involvement of citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan in temporary employment in the territory of Russian Federation was signed. The document, which entered into force on December 21, 2017, helps to streamline the process of labor migration between Uzbekistan and Russia. This agreement, which will serve the interests of citizens of both countries, protect migrants’ rights and interests, will help to prevent illegal migration, which is one of the main causes ofhuman trafficking.

A roadmap was developed in order to ensure implementation of the agreement, within the framework of which the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations of Uzbekistan organized meetings almost in all regions of Russia, held negotiations with employers and representatives of regional administrations.

During the meeting, Agency for Foreign Labor Migration Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan presented information on measures that are being implemented on attracting citizens of Uzbekistan to labor in foreign countries, including Russian Federation.Currently, Center for pre-departure training and sending migrant workers to the Russian Federation is operating in Samarkand. This year it is planned to open such a center in Fergana.

Head of the delegation A.Juravlev informed about activities on familiarization of Uzbekistan migrant workers with Russian legislation, their medical and social protection, creation of decent working and living conditions. Views were exchanged on further improvement of joint activity in this direction.

On the same day, the delegation met with Deputy Chairman of the Committee on interethnic relations and friendly ties with foreign countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan K. Eshonkhodjaev.

At the meeting, it was emphasized that development of tolerance and humanity culture, creation of equal rights and opportunities for all citizens regardless of their nationality and religious beliefs are one of the priority areas of the state policy in Uzbekistan.
