The Committee of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis on Democratic Institutions, NGOs and Self-Government Bodies has analyzed the results of its activities in 2016 and identified further challenges for the future at the organization’s session.
It was noted that special significance was placed on the improvement and efficiency enhancement of legislative activity, the effective organization of parliamentary and deputy control over the introduction of laws in the field of human rights and addressing the tasks defined in government programs.
In particular, five draft laws are being developed and more than 20 existing legal acts have been improving. As a result, the Laws “On parliamentary control”, “On state youth policy”, “On amending the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On trade unions, their rights and guarantees of their activities”, and others were adopted.
The execution of a number of laws was studied in places, and relevant recommendations were developed. Particular priority was given to the development of international cooperation, the organization of meetings of deputies with voters, the introduction of effective mechanisms for timely consideration of citizens’ appeals. To publicize the work of the Committee, the MPs delivered about 2 thousand addresses in the media.
There were analyzed the tasks for the deputies set by the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the solemn meeting dedicated to the 24th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution, in particular the further development of legislation, enhancement of the efficiency of law enforcement and ensuring the rule of law in society. The basic directions of the organization’s activity in the Year of dialogue with the people and human interests were identified.
