Elections to the district Kengashes of people’s deputies of the city of Tashkent has ended

This was announced by the chairman of Tashkent city election commission Kh.Karimov at the briefing for the mass media representatives held at the Single Press Center on covering up the preparation and conduction of elections to the district Kengashes of people’s deputies of Tashkent.

According to preliminary data, more than 1 million 188 thousand 851 citizens took part in the elections, which is more than 76,2 percent of the total number of voters included in the list. Thus, in accordance with the Article 41 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On elections to regional, district, city Kengashes of people’s deputies”, elections to the district Kengashes of people’s deputies of the city of Tashkent are recognized as valid.

The elections were held in full compliance with national legislation, the principles of equality, openness, transparency, justice, international standards, enshrined in it. There were no reports of violations of the electoral legislation.

During the elections, a legal experiment was conducted on using the information system of a Single electronic voter list.

The new system provides inclusion of the voter only in one list. This ensures compliance in practice of the democratic electoral principle “Every citizen-voter has one vote”, enshrined in the Article 3 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On elections to regional, district, city Kengashes of people’s deputies”.

At the same time, the Single electronic voter list allows for electronic counting of voters participating in the voting.

In the future, it is planned to improve the system and introduce it into the general electoral system of the country.

At the briefing, it was reported that at the moment, counting of votes is being conducted in polling stations for each candidate for deputy of the district Kengashes.

Preliminary results of the elections will be announced at the briefing scheduled for 4 pm, on December 25.
