In an interview to Kazinform International News Agency, the deputy director of Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, doctor of political sciences Sanat Kushkumbayev highly appreciated the potential of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, especially the automotive industry.
“There are projects of joint assembly production – Uzbekistan has a high potential in automotive industry. And not only in production of automobiles, but also freight and passenger transport. Uzbekistan is currently implementing a large-scale project in industrialization, free economic zones will be organized in almost every region”, the journalist Azamat Syzdykbayev quotes S.Kushkumbayev’s words.
The expert of Kazakhstan sees great reserves in development of cooperation in the field of agriculture: “Climatic conditions of Uzbekistan allow to grow vegetables and fruits in this country on a year-round basis. For example, we can supply hard wheat high in gluten. This species is very popular both in Uzbekistan and throughout the region. It is grown only in the northern regions of Kazakhstan”.
At present, the volume of trade turnover between our countries has almost reached $2 billion, but the heads of states set the task of reaching the level of $5 billion by 2020. This goal is quite achievable.
