It is estimated that the majority of foreign tourists traveling to Uzbekistan, stay in Bukhara longer than in other regions. This is due to a compact arrangement of a large number of landmarks and tourist infrastructure.
Deputy khokim of Bukhara region Husniddin Goyirov dwells upon this:
“As in the whole country, Bukhara region focuses on the development of the tourism industry. Tourists from all over the world are attracted by the beautiful nature, rich history and culture, unique traditions and values, distinctive architectural monuments and recreation areas. Peace and stability, the atmosphere of mutual respect, tolerance, solidarity, hospitality and generosity of Uzbek people, modern hotels and recreation areas, as well as high quality services create favorable opportunities for good leisure of travelers. All this serves to the increase of the flow of tourists to Uzbekistan, the development of domestic tourism, the creation of new jobs, and the improvement of population welfare.
Modern hotels, recreation areas, airports, transport facilities are built, new tourist routes are developed, and quality of services are improved in Bukhara for the development of all areas of the tourism infrastructure.
More than 900 historical and architectural monuments of Bukhara region are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Domestic tourism gets developed as well. In this regard, the region places much emphasis on the expansion and promotion of tourism opportunities, improvement of the work of recreation areas and travel agencies. Targeted programs are developed based on the features and capabilities of the region. The development of new tourist routes, the creation of historical and archaeological parks, the development of rural tourism and travel services, road construction, and complexes of services contribute to the creation of favorable conditions for our compatriots traveling through the country.
Currently, 93 hotels and 38 travel agencies of the region offer their services to 4,500 tourists. From year to year increases the number of tourists arriving in Bukhara region from all over the world, including those from France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Austria, Switzerland, USA, Japan, South Korea, China, Malaysia.”
