On 24 May, Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with his counterpart, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who arrived in Tashkent on a state visit.
Ministers discussed prospects of further development of bilateral relations in political, trade-economic, investment, cultural-humanitarian and other spheres.
The sides exchanged views on international and regional agenda.
The parties highly appreciated the results of the Arab Islamic American Summit, held in Riyadh on 21 May, and the 43rd session of the Council of foreign ministers of the OIC, held on 18-19 October 2016, in Tashkent. The sides also discussed the issues of strengthening of counteraction against extremism and terrorism, promoting tolerance, strengthening security, stability and cooperation.
The meeting also discussed the parties ‘ proposals on schedule of upcoming Uzbek-UAE contacts at various levels.
Following the talks, the Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the sphere of culture between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the United Arab Emirates.
