UNESCO is holding a Global Media and Information Literacy Week under the theme “Nurturing trust: A Media and Information Literacy Imperative”.
The Organization seeks to strengthen the capacity of politicians, educators and information specialists by helping member states formulate national policies and strategies in this area.
Media and information literacy includes competencies that allow people to work critically and effectively with information, other forms of content, institutions that facilitate the receipt of information and various types of content, as well as the insightful use of digital technologies.
The Week will include an international conference on Media and Information Literacy and Intercultural Dialogue, as well as a Youth Agenda Forum.
