HEAD OF STATE COMMITTEE FOR TOURISM DEVELOPMENT MEETS WITH AMBASSADOR OF LATVIA

Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development A. Sharapov held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia in Uzbekistan E. Bondars.

There was a conversation on topical issues of development of bilateral relations between countries in the field of tourism. In particular, the State Committee for Tourism Development noted that the dynamic reforms in Uzbekistan are opening new opportunities for deepening mutually beneficial cooperation in the tourism sector, which is determined by giving the tourism industry a status of strategic sector of the national economy by the country’s leadership.

At the same time, information was provided on further plans of the Uzbek side to promote the tourist potential of the cities of Shakhrisabz, Navoi, Termez and other cities in the context of the development of pilgrimage and active tourism.

In turn, the Ambassador highly appreciated the tourism potential of Uzbekistan. He stressed that existing direct flights between Riga and Tashkent contribute to the development of bilateral relations between the two countries, including in the tourism sphere.

The Ambassador also expressed his readiness to assist in branding field in the tourism sector and education of the specifics of tourism development in European countries. According to the Ambassador, Latvia has a lot of experience in training specialists in the tourism industry.

At the end of the meeting, the Uzbek side invited the representatives of the Latvian tourism industry to participate in the annual Tashkent International Tourism Fair in October this year and the program “Hosted Buyers / Professional Buyer”.
