On March 21, early in the morning, the sounds of karnays and surnays announced the beginning of the sayils (folk festivities) in Uzbekistan, dedicated to Navruz holiday.
Everywhere – in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and regional centers, cities and districts, villages and auls, Navruz is celebrated in the form of nationwide sayils.
The main festive events in Tashkent were held at the National Exhibition Complex “Uzexpocentre”.
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the festive sayil.
Members of the government, deputies and senators, scientists, culture and art figures, representatives of sports community, businessmen, people of respectable age, compatriots working effectively in various spheres, representatives of foreign embassies and representatives of international organizations in Uzbekistan are gathered here.
The President of Uzbekistan first met with representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country, honorary guests, congratulated them on the holiday.
Representatives of Karakalpakstan, regions and the city of Tashkent made performances at “Uzexpocentre”, presenting the history, customs and traditions, presented dishes and handicraft products of their region. Artfully crafted products of craftsmen, various costumes and outfits, national musical instruments and other items aroused great interest among the gathered.
Music, songs and dances, performances of art collectives, folk games became the embodiment of versatility and uniqueness of this ancient holiday.
The Head of the state visited the pavilion of each region and watched concert programs. Having talked with venerable fathers and mothers, who arrived from the regions, congratulated them on the holiday.
