Some leaders leave a mark behind. They are always respected not only by their own countrymen, but also by people of nations they created history in. It was over 49 years ago when the then Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri signed the Tashkent Agreement with President Ayub Khan of Pakistan to bring peace to
the sub-continent. With the mediation
of the then Soviet Premier Alexei
Kosygin the Agreement was reached on 10 January 1966 . Unfortunately,
amidst protests by some political groups against the Agreement, the
Indian leader died the next day in
Tashkent.
