In Greece the tourism potential of Uzbekistan is widely represented

Greece_tourismConsulate General of our country in Athens in conjunction with one of the most popular Greek tourist companies Memnon Travel was a presentation of tourist potential of Uzbekistan.

It was attended by representatives of the leading travel agencies, official, scientific, academic and business communities, the public and the media in Greece.

During the event, the participants got acquainted with the detailed information about the rich historical and architectural heritage, attractions and scenic nature of Uzbekistan. It was also noted that such cities as Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and Shakhrisabz, which in the Middle Ages were known as the center of Islamic culture and science are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

One of the main factors for the development of tourism industry in Uzbekistan is that its unique location and nature, offer great opportunities for tourists and leisure travel.

Recognition of having a huge potential of Uzbekistan in this area was conducted last year of the 99th session of the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization in Samarkand.

At the same time, it was stressed that for years of independence in the country a number of measures aimed at developing the tourism industry, in particular the formation of infrastructure, hospitality, transport and others.

Speaking to the assembled representatives of the Greek National Tourism Organization GNTO A.Mihailis noted that Uzbekistan from year to year is becoming more popular and gaining a place in the world tourism industry. “The great merit of this government, which is making huge efforts at comprehensive development of tourism infrastructure. Such historical cities as Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, as the “Pearl of the Orient”, cause an increased interest of tourists from different corners of the world. I am confident that the rich architectural and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan, as well as the hospitality of the Uzbek people are attracting increasing attention of tourists from Europe to your country”, – he said.

The famous Greek writer and journalist, author of “Marakanda” Petros Kasimatis, repeatedly visited our country in the course of his report, briefed the participants about all great personalities, such as Amir Temur and Mirzo Ulugbek, their contribution to the development of world statehood and culture science. It is with great warmth told the participants about the inherent to our people are kind and hospitality. His love and sincere feelings to Uzbekistan and Uzbek people have received immediate response from those present at the presentation. Many of them set a goal certainly to visit our country.
