In Tribute to the Great Poet

An enlightenment event in tribute to the 573rd birthday anniversary of the great poet and thinker Alisher Navoi has taken place at the Alisher Navoi State Museum of Literature of Uzbekistan’s Academy of Sciences.

Representatives of government and social organizations, military servicemen, cadets of higher military education institutions, scholars of Navoi Studies, writers and poets as well as connoisseurs of the creativity of the outstanding poet took part in the occasion organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Nuroniy Fund.

It was noted in particular that steadfast efforts have been in progress under the leadership of President Islam Karimov to study the legacy of our great ancestors. Uzbekistan will soon widely celebrate the birthday anniversary of the world-renowned Uzbek poet Alisher Navoi.

“I enquired into the creativity of the great poet for the first time in my early childhood,” says B.Kulkiev, third-year cadet of the special faculty of Tashkent University of Information Technologies. “I remember how I found in our home library a book decorated with sophisticated oriental ornaments that was left in memory of my grandfather. That was a collection of works of Alisher Navoi and it eventually became a reference book for me.”

Participants of the event read out ghazels, rubai and dastans by Alisher Navoi, and exchanged views on the latter’s great spiritual heritage.
