On September 13-14, Samarkand hosted the 5th session of “India – Central Asia” dialogue.
The event, organized by the Information and Analytical Center for International Relations under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with the Indian Council of World Affairs, was attended by scientists and experts of leading research centers of India and Central Asian countries.
The current state and prospects of political and economic cooperation between India and Central Asian countries, issues of joint counteraction to threats and challenges to sustainable development, current issues of development of bilateral and multilateral ties, cooperation in transport, logistics and investment spheres were discussed at the forum’s meetings.
At the same time, opinions were expressed on the role of the countries of the region in ensuring stability in Afghanistan, assisting the neighboring state in this process.
Participants of the forum made suggestions and recommendations on strengthening cooperation between Central Asian countries and India.
Minister of State for External Affairs of the Republic of India Mobashar Jawed Akbar attended the sessions that took place on the second day of the forum. He highly appreciated the organization of the fifth session of India – Central Asia dialogue, important proposals and initiatives forwarded at the forum on developing cooperation between India and the region’s countries.
Following the meeting, a memorandum was signed between the Information and Analytical Center for International Relations and the Indian Council of World Affairs.
