The Kengash (Council) of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan convened for session on October 31, 2014.

The Kengash adopted a resolution to convoke the sixteenth general session of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on November 13, 2014, in the city of Tashkent.
Among the issues projected to be introduced for discussion at the Senate’s general session are those on the National Budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the budgets of state trust funds and the major dimensions of the tax and budget policy for the year 2015, as well as on the program of creation of jobs and provision for population employment for 2015 that envisage the further elevation of living standards of the population and the reinforcement of its social security, provision for high and sustainable rates of economic growth and employment of the population.
The agenda of the plenary session of the Senate is to include a number of laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan dedicated to steadfast reforms and liberalization of all spheres of political and socio-economic life along with the realization of the Concept of the Intensification of Democratic Reforms and Formation of Civil Society in the Country. Among them are the bills on “The Introduction of Amendments and Addenda to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Investment Activities” and that on “The Appeals of Private Individuals and Corporate Entities” that envision the further perfection of the investment climate and the business environment in Uzbekistan as well as the organizational-normative foundations of consideration of appeals from individuals and corporate bodies.
Draft laws on the introduction of amendments and addenda to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan are also intended for deliberation.
Along with that, other issues related to the powers of the Senate of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis are expected to be addressed at the regular general session.
For coordination of efforts by the committees and the staff of the Senate of Oliy Majlis to prepare for and hold the sixteenth general session, the Kengash set up a corresponding working group.
