Khiva is the tourist capital of the Islamic world in 2024
At the Eleventh Session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Baku in 2022, Khiva was awarded the status of the “Tourist Capital of the Islamic World in 2024”.
In this regard, several international events are planned for the Khorezm region from May 31 to June 2 this year.
Preparatory activities are underway. The 12th Session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will be held within the framework of the events. It will be attended by ministers of tourism from 57 countries, heads of international tourism organizations, and foreign media representatives.
During the session, presentations on tourism potential in the OIC Member States will be held. The results of activities will be analyzed, and plans for the future will be considered.

The announcement of Khiva as the tourist capital of the Islamic world provides an opportunity to transform the city into the best tourist center in the international tourism market. UNESCO experts compare Khiva with ancient Athens, Rome, and Cairo.
Today, there are many local and foreign tourists in Khiva, particularly in the Ichan-Kala Complex. They visit historical monuments and witness the great creative potential of their ancestors.
The prestigious conference in Khiva will bring together representatives of the tourism sector from 60 countries and travelers from all over the world, contributing to the expansion of the country’s tourism opportunities.
