Knauf expands production facilities in Uzbekistan

One of the world’s leading manufacturers of building materials – the international group Knauf commissioned a modernized line for production of high-quality drywall in the enterprise in Kagan district of Bukhara region.

On May 16, a ceremony was held at the foreign enterprise Knauf Gips Buhoro dedicated to the official opening of this line. It was attended by representatives of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the leadership of the international group “Knauf”, the German Embassy in Uzbekistan.

At the event the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan A.Aripov, the co-chairman of the German-Uzbek Business Council, the executive director of the company Knauf Gips KG M.Grundke, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Uzbekistan G.Overfeld noted that Knauf occupies a strong place in building materials market.

Modernization and expansion of gypsum board production at Knauf Gips Buhoro plant lasted almost two years. As a result of this project worth more than 16 million Euros, the capacity of the line has increased by 30 percent. That is, the opportunity to produce 30 million square meters of Knauf-plasterboard coatings per year was created here.

In the near future, Knauf plans to increase the volume of dry construction mixes on a gypsum basis. This production line will also be launched on the territory of Knauf Gips Buhoro enterprise. With the project implementation, the capacity of dry mix production will double.

During the event, it was noted that solution of issues discussed at the meeting of the German-Uzbek Business Council, held within its framework business forum, will promote the expansion of mutual cooperation, the growth of the company’s activity in the economy of Uzbekistan. The management of Knauf expressed readiness to implement new projects in other regions of Uzbekistan.
