The Ministry of justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan has registered the representative office of the Latvian non-governmental organization “Cleantech Latvia”, according to the official website of the ministry.
The NGO was established in 2006 with headquarters in Riga, with a purpose for the development and implementation of environmentally sound technologies and renewable sources of energy in production activities.
The founder of the NGO is the Latvian Association of biotechnology.
The NGO is funded by the European regional development fund, the Latvian Agency of investments and development.
In Uzbekistan “Cleantech Latvia” plans to develop cooperation between organizations of Uzbekistan and the EU in the field of environmental protection, the introduction of advanced “green” technology sectors and agriculture.
Another direction of activity will include joint activities in academic and professional exchange in the field of environmental protection, the examination and preparation of feasibility studies of environmental projects.
Particular attention will be paid to assistance in the implementation of projects on modernization and reconstruction of infrastructure facilities.
Currently, “Cleantech Latvia” has started work on joint projects with the Ministry of agriculture and water resources and the State Committee for environmental protection in such topical areas as water resources management, increasing the efficiency of energy use, the widespread introduction of renewable and alternative energy.
