Lower house of parliament held a press conference on the activities of the Committee of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis on Democratic Institutions, NGOs and Civil Society in 2013 and priorities for the current year.
It was noted that last year the committee submitted to the lower house of parliament draft laws on local governing bodies, on the election of chair of citizens (elder) and their advisers, and on amendments to some legislative acts, which were then adopted by the Oliy Majlis and entered into force. In addition, the committee members worked on a draft law on guardianship, also passed by parliament and then published in the press. Currently the committee is working on a draft law on from individual and corporate appeals for the second and third reading.
During the press conference, members of the committee also told reporters on the legal experiment conducted last year in Bukhoro and Samarqand, to test the draft law on the openness of public authorities and administration, MPs’ interaction with the media.
