Fr om January 1, 2017, a ban on the implementation of incandescent lamps over 40 watts in Uzbekistan has come into effect.

There will be an exception to the rule in cases wh ere manufacturers of processing units, motor vehicles, educational, medical and other special equipments define mandatory requirements on the use of incandescent light bulbs in them.

Relevant decisions were adopted in 2015 (Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers “On measures to expand domestic production of energy-saving lamps”). This decision was taken due to the fact that the efficiency of incandescent light bulbs less than 5%. This means that 95% of the electrical energy goes into heat and only 5% – for lighting. In using energy saving lamps with the same light output as incandescent lamps, electric power consumption is reduced at least five times. This allows save 40-50% of consumed electricity.

The volumes of production of energy-saving lamps have been increased for more than two years in the country and their utilization system is also created.
