Festival of Traditional Textile “Atlas bayrami” in Margilan continues. The festival is organized by the National Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan for UNESCO, Ministry of Culture, State Committee for Tourism Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Hunarmand Association, UNESCO office in Uzbekistan and Fergana regional khokimiyat.
The history of Uzbek national fabrics has deep roots. Especially atlas, adras, beqasam, created by inspiration of Uzbek artisans, are valuable. Silk fabrics of Margilan are distinguished by the play of colors and amazing patterns. Products of Margilan artisans are highly valued and attracted attention at all times.
The festival is attended by masters, artists, specialists of the sphere from more than 30 countries such as Russia, China, Spain, France, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and others.
Within the framework of the festival, a meeting of experts on traditional textile, international scientific conference on “Interaction of cultures of the East and West on the Great Silk Road: Hangzhou, Margilan, Valencia” will be held. “City of Craftsmen” Applied Arts Fair, fashion show of Uzbekistan designers, kurash championships, performances of ropewalkers and puppet theaters will be organized.
Workshops on traditional textile and entrepreneurship are carried out by well-known artisans of Uzbekistan, as well as specialists from Mongolia and Bangladesh.
