Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Army General Sergei Shoigu arrived in Uzbekistan with an official visit.
The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Major General Abdusalom Azizov, at the meeting with the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation emphasized that after the visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Moscow in 2017, bilateral relations gained a new impetus, filled with new content.
In response, Minister of Defense of Russia, Army General Sergei Shoigu thanked for the cordial welcome and noted that the military and military-technical cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan is absolutely concrete and very important.
Since 2000, military cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia is being conducted on the basis of annually approved plans of military cooperation between the defense departments of the two states.
He also noted that Russia is ready to train more military personnel from Uzbekistan, as well as send teachers to the republic for training military specialists in connection with spread of threat of international terrorism.
The arrival of the Minister of Defense of Russia in Uzbekistan is becoming an important prologue to the upcoming state visit to Uzbekistan of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
