Meeting of the working group on legislation and judicial-legal issues

At the meeting of the Committee on legislation and judicial-legal issues, the report of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan on activities of the Prosecutor’s Offices of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017 was previously heard.
In the process of implementation of reforms in judicial and legal sphere, it is important not to deal with consequences of crime and offence, but to eliminate their main causes at the system level. Based on this principle, 88 normative legal documents were adopted in 2017, introduced at the initiative of the Prosecutor’s Office.
Special attention was paid to coordination of activities of human rights bodies as an important area of activity of the prosecutorial authorities, strengthening cooperation with them.
As a result, in 2017, Uzbekistan has achieved a 15.7 percent decrease in crime.
At the meeting, priority tasks of the prosecutorial authorities in the field of law enforcement in the process of investigation of crimes and conducting operational investigative activities were discussed. The need for ensuring openness and transparency of judicial-investigative activities was particularly noted.
