Meeting with the delegation of the International Monetary Fund

Recently, a meeting was held with the delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) at the Ministry for Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This was reported by the Ministry for Foreign Trade.

During the meeting, representatives of the Ministry informed the IMF delegation about the system reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan on further liberalization and diversification of the economy, as well as introduced with the activity that is being implemented on improvement of institutions of financial and non-financial support for exports and establishing such organizations as the export insurance fund, the export support center and the export and logistics institute. It is expected that these innovations will help to create good opportunities and conditions for local enterprises in the process of involving them in international trade.

It was emphasized that the ministry together with the profile organizations is working on creation of an electronic trading platform, which will help simplify the interaction between buyers and sellers in conducting international trade operations.

The delegation of the International Monetary Fund highly appreciated the large-scale work in Uzbekistan on implementation of a phased policy of simplifying conditions regulating foreign economic activity, as well as creating equal conditions for both domestic and foreign business.

Within the framework of the meeting, the increased volumes of exports with the main trading partners of the country following the results of 2017 and a significant decrease in the share of the volume of commodity exports in favor of products with high added value were noted.
