On February 10, 2018, the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by Minister of foreign affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov was received in Tehran by President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani. It was reported by the Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
At the meeting, prospects for the development of bilateral relations in the context of implementation of the agreements reached at the meeting of the presidents of Uzbekistan and Iran on September 10, 2017, in Astana were discussed.
Views were exchanged on a number of regional issues, including the situation in Afghanistan. The sides noted the importance of joint international efforts for starting the process of political settlement of the Afghan crisis.
Leader of Iran supported the initiative of Uzbekistan to hold an international conference on Afghanistan “Peace process, cooperation in the sphere of security and regional cooperation”.
At the meeting, other political and economic issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
