Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation got acquainted with historical monuments of Samarkand

On May 22, delegation led by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, who arrived in Uzbekistan on an official visit, visited Samarkand.

Sergei Shoigu laid flowers to the grave of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, honored the memory of the great leader of Uzbekistan.

The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation was provided with brief information on construction of Hazrati Khizr complex, the final resting place of the First President of Uzbekistan, large scale construction and landscaping activities carried out here.

Then the guest visited the place of worship of Hodja Daniyar, the mausoleum of Amir Temur, the Mirzo Ulugbek observatory, the Registan complex and other historical and cultural monuments.

The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation highly appreciated the ongoing work in the country on preserving in pristine form the heritage of ancestors for future generations.
